My horoscope is Leo, so I would like to merge together a portrait of myself and a lion.

The Cyclical Nature of Things Artist Statement

A tree perfectly exhibits the "Cyclical Nature of Things." It is a beautiful creation from mother nature that represents many things in life. Some of the things that it represents are stability, strength, patience, etc. Thus, it presents human very well. It takes time to grow, and as it grows older and bigger, it will experience many things. There will be days where it can reach up to the sun as if it is enjoying life, and then there are other days were the rain just makes it heavy to lift itself up. A tree go through as much humans do, and maybe much more. Even so, it stands tall and hold its ground no matter what the circumstances are.

From a David Hockney's approach, I'm going to grab bits and pieces of my personal life and embed them into the tree. The bottom of the tree will start out with bits and pieces of my childhood, then move up my present life. The background will be a collage of the seasons, as well as night and day. Thus, having tree present life in human's perspective and nature's perspective.

Destroy the Icon Process

I've been trying to depict Gandhi as a hero of India because he was the one that helped India gain its freedom.

February 2-9 Fantasy Appliance Progress

I'm unsure if the concept is still fuzzy for the viewer, but I added some text at the top of the camera lens to assist in figuring out what this work portrays. Tell me what you think.

I've been trying to work on the details through layering. I was thinking of doing a fantasy appliance-human, making it a hawk-like human with camera lenses as eyes.

Fantasy Appliance Project

These are the images I'm going to use for the fantasy appliance project. There may be more images I might reference to, but as of right now, these will do. I'm planning to replace the eyes with the camera lens, which conveys the message that cameras functions much like our eyes. Also, the fact that we capture images through our eyes and send them to the back of our brains, which forms visual memories we have throughout our lives. My hands will rest around the camera lens (eyes) portraying that we can control or focus the images that we capture. The film strips will act as hair, symbolizing that in some way of communication, we publish our captured memories.
